I have been reading a lot of Scott Douglas’s Dispatches From a Public Librarian at work lately, which has been doing a great job of keeping me entertained during slow hours. In the spirit of one of his dispatches, here is a little list of my own of people I try to avoid at work:

The lady who brags about how many David Baldacci books she read last month.
The woman who never stands in line, but just hovers at the side of the desk counter, staring at me until the line is finished.
The man who sells things on ebay and brings his “vintage treasures” in to the library to show me.
The man who always asks questions that I (and most people) wouldn’t know the answer to, and gets mad when I don’t.
The woman who always brings back books with food or sauce all over them.
The woman who always wants me to page her children, because she can’t find them.
The schizophrenic guy who never says anything and just stares at me while I’m checking his items out.
The elderly man who begins most of his sentences with, “Let’s see if you have a sense of humor.”

It’s so fun to have someone there when you wake up in the middle of the night, and to end up laughing your head off with that person, even though you’re tired and have to get ready for work in 4 hours.

The wedding was GREAT! It went so well, except for a few minor setbacks. As fun as it was, we are so glad it’s over. I’m so sick right now that I can’t talk, so I’m ready for that to be over too!

I will post more of our pictures from the wedding when we get them, but here’s a picture taken by a friend as a preview:

Andrew Bird

This last week, I have been basking in the post-Andrew-Bird-concert glow. The show was incredible. I loved hearing his new songs, as well as different arrangements of old songs. Andrew and I know his music so well, but there were times when we would think a tune was familiar, but we couldn’t think which song it was until half-way through. Some of his arrangements were that different- but still amazing! I also liked that he played a lot more violin at the concert.

We took about a gazillion pictures, and many of them can be found on my flickr site!

P.S. Haley Bonar, who opened for Andrew Bird, was pretty great too. I am excited to order her CD. Apparently, she is also Andrew Bird’s backup singer, and the two are married, although both of them referred to the other as “my friend.” How sweet.

I noticed this book at work the other day because I was hungry and there are french fries on the cover. Oh, and the title caused me to do a double take, too.

I laughed because I often feel that I am in need of some better bloggin’ material. I try to steer clear of lunch discussions or play-by-plays of my day, but I still feel the occasional blogger’s block. The book didn’t change my life or inspire any amazing new blog ideas, but it was fun to skim through.

American Idols

Apparently, these are the two big shots from last season’s American Idol (a show which should have died years ago) who came out with albums. I cracked up when I saw these at my library. They are almost identical, right down to the font and the “soulful” look.

Sweet fancy Moses, THAT IS A LOT OF PASTRAMI. There are at least 20 slices. That is just disgusting. Can you spot the tiny man in the pastrami?

Peter’s Chair

Alright, what is the deal with that chair? The young man, the baby, and the alligator are giving it the stink eye. Clearly, we missed something there.
